Mini Cinnamon Rolls

This is an interesting recipe that I thought I would share, I found it on the blog iowagirleats.com

Makes 16 mini cinnamon rolls
Ingredients:
1-8oz tube crescent roll dough
2 Tablespoons butter
cinnamon
brown sugar
For the maple icing:
1 teaspoon maple syrup
1 Tablespoon skim milk
3/4 cup powdered sugar
Directions:
1. Preheat oven according to crescent roll dough package directions. Layout half the dough (4 triangles) and pinch all the seams together. Flip over and pinch the seams on the back side together too.
2. Using a rolling pin, smooth the seams and roll the dough into a square about 1/4″ thick. Brush with half the butter, and sprinkle with as much cinnamon and brown sugar as you want. Roll into a log and cut into 8 pieces.
3. Place mini cinnamon rolls into a non-stick sprayed mini muffin tin. Repeat steps 1 and 2 with the other half of the crescent roll dough. Bake according to package directions.
4. Meanwhile whisk together maple syrup and milk in a bowl. Add in powdered sugar until desired consistency is reached. Drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls.

Our Selfish Flesh

Yesterday my friend said something along the lines of "I want Jesus to come back and all, but I just want to live my life first. I want to have children and get married and everything." My other friend, who is one of the best christians I know, said "That is just your selfish human flesh." That inspired me to look up verses in the Bible that backed her up. So last night I opened my Bible to the back where it has a section called "God's answers for mans concerns". I found the word "worldliness" and it told me to flip to Colossians 3:2 which states "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." This single verse confirmed my friends statement; God wants you to set your mind on things in Heaven and He wants you to concentrate on glorifying him and everything else in your life will fall into place.
After reading that verse I continued reading the entire third chapter of Colossians, which was all about how to act here on earth in ways that would please God. A feeling a peacefulness swept over me after that and I was able to sleep soundly.

Scholarships...:/

I am a junior in high school so that means even though I am eager to apply for scholarships most of the scholarships out there are strictly for high school seniors or college students. I have been searching day and night to find scholarships open to high school juniors & so far I have only found one...:/ I will be hopeful though! I have applied for FASFA, and made an account on fastweb.com . I still need like $50,000 to pay for college.

State Map Art

I love this! I really wanna do this and put it up in my house. I figure all you have to do is trace your state on some card stock, line the outline in pins then cut out a map of your state and glue it to the card stock. Frame it and now you have a lovely piece of art work! I guess you could make a heart where the capital is or around where you live.
Such a beautiful saying

Beautiful Spring Time:)

Homemade Mounds Bars

I made these because well..I love candy! Especially mounds bars!! These were super easy to make although I did have to do some altercations to the recipe I found online.

Here is the recipe:
-1 bag of dark chocolate chips
-1 bag of unsweetened coconut flakes
-1/2 cup white corn syrup
-1/2 cup confectioners sugar
**Sprinkles are optional**

Mix corn syrup, coconut flakes, & sugar together, add more if you feel like the mixture is to dry. Roll mixture into small mounds(about the size you would make cookie dough) and set them on a pan, covered in wax paper, to cool in the freezer. While you are waiting for the coconut mixture to set, melt the chocolate in the microwave or in a double boiler.
Take the mounds out of the freezer and cover each individual mounds in chocolate.
Place back on the wax paper until the chocolate sets and decorate with sprinkles if you want:):)

One of my little obsessions: Photography

These are some pictures I took of myself the other day. I edited them a little bit, but these are some of the best self portraits I have done so far. I take better nature pictures though; it's something about capturing the raw beauty in the great wilderness that just calls me.
